Village Gathers for September 11th Anniversary Memorial

POMPANO BEACH – 9/8/11 – On Sunday, residents and staff at John Knox Village will gather at 7 p.m. in our Auditorium for a commemorative ceremony recognizing the 10th Anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

This highly significant event will begin with our Chaplain Jeff Snodgrass, who will welcome the attendees with a benediction. After a couple videos are shown, including one featuring the memorial at ground zero, JKV resident Jeanne Russack will read the poem “The Four Candles.” Then, singer Bill Wynn will perform “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” He will be accompanied on piano by resident Harriet Mertz.

Participants will then be asked to join the group outside for an inspiring candle lighting ceremony, featuring some of our residents, and a moment of silence.

The Village continues to salute our first responders. We are proud to show our support to law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs and the armed forces. Your commitment to protecting us each and every day is admired and appreciated.

For more information about this event, please contact our Activities Department at (954) 783-4039.
